Life-Enhancing Technology

We have Wi-Fi available in our common areas and a 165-inch screen TV for webinars. All residents also have access to our community-wide emergency call system. Sterling Estates is also forging new alliances with local universities to provide cutting-edge technologies to our residents for improved health and fitness as they become available.

Encompassing Family Values

Enjoy a retirement that also includes your family. Sterling Estates of West Cobb and East Cobb in Marietta, GA, are communities your adult children and grandkids will feel right at home in, too.

When we build a Sterling community, our first thought is always of our family. Is this a place that they would enjoy, a place that they would find special and want to visit?  Is this a home for their parents or grandparents that they will take pride in knowing we are living

That’s because we believe that family and hope are what make a life Sterling. A Sterling Life is also one where interacting with friends, service, helping others, faith, and dependability are appreciated. These are the kinds of communities that we create.

A Sterling community is one where everyone in the family loves to visit. It’s where grandchildren want to swim in the pool, play bocce ball or shuffleboard with their grandparents and adult children enjoy walking the lovely paths, visiting the large residents garden or sitting on the comfortable patios with their parents, and where everyone enjoys breaking bread together in the wonderful dining venues.

If you visit a Sterling community when grandchildren are on summer vacation, you’ll see them playing lacrosse, baseball, or football out front or in the back on the spacious manicured lawns. There’s always something intergenerational going on here because that’s what a Sterling Life is all about.

Refundable Contract

Unlike many active adult retirement community choices in Marietta, a Sterling Life comes with a refundable contract.

Independent Living at Sterling Estates of West Cobb only requires a one-year rental contract with a membership fee. We do require 120 days’ notice should you decide to leave, but only 30 days if it’s a medical emergency.

If you choose a Cottage, at the end of your contract period, at the present time 65% of your entrance fee is refunded when the unit is re-rented. This makes living at Sterling West Cobb a way to preserve assets for yourself and your estate.

When Needs Change

If your health care needs change, we’re here to help. As experts in senior care, we make sure our residents get the coordinated care they need.

Our staff works with many referral sources in the community, and we’re quite knowledgeable about all of the area’s medical facilities.

Whether a resident needs to talk to a case manager, a nursing home administrator, or wants a specialist recommendation, we can usually provide good counsel.

Long-Term Care Insurance

Sterling Estates helps you maximize the benefits you’ve paid for.

We work closely with long-term insurance companies to help our residents obtain the maximum benefits from the funds they have paid for years to secure their futures. We’re happy to help file initial and ongoing claims for each of our eligible residents.

At Sterling Estates, service to our residents is of the utmost importance. We want to provide whatever assistance we can to help you become part of our family.

Veterans Benefits

Benefits for veterans and their spouses are available for care here in Greater Atlanta, GA. Sterling Estates will help you find out if you’re eligible.

Sterling Estates of West Cobb and East Cobb are home to many men and women who served so honorably in our armed services, and/or their spouses. Many of them qualify for the Department of Veterans Affairs Aid and Attendance pension, commonly referred to as the A&A program. You may, too, if you are a Veteran or a spouse of a Veteran.

Many perceive these benefits as only being available for those who were wounded or disabled while serving in the military, and their spouses. In fact, many other veterans and their spouses can receive this benefit.

The A&A Program was created by our government to provide financial aid to Veterans and their surviving spouses who need caregiver assistance with the activities of daily living.

That’s the kind of support we provide our Assisted Living residents at Sterling Estates of West Cobb.

Creating Your Personal Sterling Way Wellness Plan

When a resident moves into our community, he or she is given a wellness evaluation by our in-house Wellness Director. The evaluation includes, but is not limited to: a Balance Assessment, Flexibility Tests, Gait Analysis, overall Health Review, and overall summarization of lifestyle goals.

After the initial assessment is complete, a personal wellness plan is created for and with the resident, whether it is starting with the basic activity classes above or one-on-one training to work toward a more specific goal, including:

  • Walking
  • Reduction of Parkinsonian syndrome symptoms
  • Stroke recovery
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Strength
  • Balance

The resident’s Wellness Plan is communicated to and reviewed by the resident’s physician if appropriate. If home health is the initial recommendation, our wellness director is in communication with the Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapist. When the insurance coverage lapses, there is a smooth transition from the home health therapy to our wellness program.

If overall strength and balance is the goal, our residents will start with the one-on-one sessions with the wellness director. After short-term goals are reached through the one-on-one sessions, integration into our group health and fitness classes and water aerobics program is recommended.

Residents who need general maintenance of strength and balance are recommended to start with our chair classes (Sittersize, Chair Yoga, Chair Tai Chi) as well as our Water Aerobics Class. Residents are frequently reassessed for short-term goals.

Sittersize: Seated Chair Aerobics

Seated chair exercises are designed to benefit someone who can’t withstand body weight on their joints. By sitting in a chair we eliminate any pounding on the joints. A light aerobic exercise is needed daily to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Chair aerobics helps to increase strength through light resistance exercises, increase mobility, and increase heart rate. Coupled with fun energetic music, Sittersize is great for anyone!

Can help those suffering from diabetes, and offers these benefits:

  • Increases circulation
  • Keeps ankle joints flexible
  • Lubricates joints
  • Increases mental alertness
  • Improves balance
  • Increases energy level
  • Improves metabolism
  • Increases joint flexibility and muscle strength

Chair Yoga: “Gentle Yoga”

Offers you the ability to improve your health without needing to stand. You are supported by a chair so you can receive yoga’s healing and restorative benefits that have been known for thousands of years. Yoga clients can learn many kinds of yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and ways of relaxation, with the aid of a chair.

Benefits:

  • Relaxes your body and mind
  • Improves musculoskeletal fitness
  • Improves flexibility
  • Elevates overall health and well-being

Workout provides a cardiovascular burn with light resistance. Water provides resistance against the body preventing any of your joints from moving too quickly. The buoyancy of the water helps to support a portion of your weight, reducing the load on your joints. Exercising in water makes you feel about 90% lighter, and water produces 12 times the resistance of air on your body.
