Groundbreaking on Newest Phase
Senior living community owner and operator Sterling Estates has announced the start of construction of the latest phase in its retirement neighborhood, Sterling Estates of West Cobb.
The company had a groundbreaking ceremony and reception on Aug. 29 at 9:30 a.m. at 3165 Dallas Highway in Marietta.
The new Hampton residence will include 29 one- and two-bedroom apartments and a large clubhouse with a unique dining venue, The Club. The clubhouse will have indoor and outdoor seating and a bar for socializing. It will also include areas for art, sculpturing and woodworking as well as a technology/media center.
“Well over half of our residents live independently in their cottage or apartment home and we have provided them a vast array of amenities and services to enjoy with a variety of dining options, a large Sterling Way Wellness center, resident garden, and even a bocce ball court,” said Mike Brown, Sterling Estates managing partner. “Our new Hampton residence with its clubhouse will provide additional amenities that we believe our residents will utilize and enjoy as they go about their daily lives.”
Sterling Estates new Memory Care Community, The Grande, was designed in consultation with Dr. John Zeisel of the Hearthstone Institute. The single story building with 36 resident suites will have as its cornerstones three specifically placed “engagement centers” as well as a secure central interior therapeutic garden and courtyard.
“The design of the building complements the way we care for our residents utilizing the Hearthstone Institute ‘I’m Still Here’ philosophy of memory care,” Brown said. “We were determined to deliver to greater Atlanta a cutting-edge, evidence-based memory care center and we believe through Dr. Zeisel and his Hearthstone Institute approach we have done that.”
Sterling Estates will be one of only 20 I’m Still Here Centers of Excellence in the country which use this approach to those with cognitive challenges.
The 30-acre retirement community opened in late August 2016 and currently has 180 residents living throughout the neighborhood.
