Katherine Smith
Activities Director
Katherine has deep roots in a small North Florida Panhandle town, named Marianna. After growing up between Marianna and Mexico Beach, Florida, both of which weren’t known very well until Hurricane Michael hit both in 2018, Katherine went to Auburn University, where she was in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She graduated in 1989 with a major in International Trade and the French language.
During Katherine’s career, she was the Director of Sales and Marketing for two major hotel companies. After starting her family, she became an “at home mom” and did substitute teaching during those years. She also volunteered with CHOA and was a Girl Scout Troop leader for many years.
Katherine married her husband, Tom, in Atlanta in 1996, where they raised their three grown children. Her adopted ‘child’ is a three-year-old English Springer Spaniel named Charlie.
In her spare time, Katherine enjoys hiking the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina, boating and traveling.
